Android Won’t Connect?
To connect your Android phone to SmartPlay™ via Bluetooth, make sure your phone’s software is up to date. Here’s how to check:
Open Settings (the silver cogwheel icon).
Scroll down and select Software Update.
Tap Download and Install to get the latest version available.
Note: Bluetooth connection works with Android version 11 and above. If you have Android 8 or above, please use a USB cable to connect to SmartPlay.
How to Connect with Bluetooth:
On your SmartPlay™, go to PhoneLink, then under Android Settings, ensure Auto Connect is set to Auto.
Press the Phone App Icon on the SmartPlay™ (labelled Bluetooth), then select Pair (the 4th option at the bottom of the screen).
On your Android device, open Settings > Bluetooth.
Under devices, select SWL-BT and follow the pairing process by entering the pin code shown on the SmartPlay™ device, then complete the privacy steps.
Your Android Auto setting is now configured.
How to Connect with Cable:
On your SmartPlay™, go to PhoneLink, and under iPhone Settings, ensure Auto Connect is set to CarPlay.
Connect your phone’s USB cable into the left side of the SmartPlay™ screen and the other end to your phone. It will automatically enter the CarPlay or Android Auto interface.
Why Won’t Google Assistant or Bixby Answer Me?
Voice assistants vary depending on your phone — Google Assistant for most Androids, and Bixby for Samsung devices. To get yours working, make sure it’s set up properly:
Open the Google Assistant app or Bixby on your phone.
Say “Assistant settings” (Google) or go to Bixby settings.
Under Popular settings, turn on Hey Google or Hi Bixby and Voice Match.
